How This Will Go

So I haven't quite figured out all the bits and pieces of how this is going to work for me. For example, will it be a stream of consciousness, will it be a carefully edited and designed piece of work, or will it be a journal of sorts. How regularly will I post, will I advertise this on my social media, will I mask people's names or leave them as is... Like I said, I don't have all the pieces put together yet. One thing I do know is I don't want an introduction to who I am. I want information to be laced throughout the stories I will be telling about my life, and not splatted right at the begin. So this is where we start: a mystery girl, in a mystery city.

New Years:
Hello 2017! Where the heck did you come from? I feel like the last year blinked by and yet there are so many things that happened. Looking forward into 2017 and a new year, many people create resolutions. Things they come up with half drunk or half tired that they want to change in this new year. What's the quote, "new year, new me"? Being real with myself that if I made a New Years resolution, I probably wouldn't stick to it, I didn't make any. Yes, there are things I want out of 2017, but sometimes the pressure of making a resolution and sticking to it can pull out the fun of a new year and a fresh start. I also have some goals from 2016, that I was already working on that will carry over, so that's not a fresh resolution either. So maybe I'm just not calling them resolutions? But just because it's a new year doesn't mean I'm a different person and doesn't mean something about me is going to drastically change. So sorry to say you're stuck with who you've got right now in front of you. Nice to meet you, I'm Sam.

For a single young woman in San Francisco, you could say my New Years celebration was...disappointing. A couple of friends had recently signed a lease on a house and threw a housewarming/New Years party, awesome people, love them. However, there are few times I feel more single and alone than when I attend one of their parties. Having had multiple different plans fall through, I landed with their party as my best option for the evening. Again, amazing people, great friends. Upon my arrival there were 8 others there: two married couples, one engaged couple, and once couple who had been dating for a few years. Leaving me, number 9, crashing the "couple" party. Awesome.
Dating in San Francisco is hard, for me at least. Many guys aren't looking for anything relationship-like or just want to hook up. Also, to my own credit, I am not great at walking up to a cute guy at a bar confidently and talking to him on my own...something we're working on, I'll keep you updated on the progress. So this single world I now live in, I blame myself just as much as the dating pool I am presented with.
Anyways back to New Years, there was a large internal debate on if I should leave and go home, leave and brave the bar world solo, sit in their basement with their cats who love me and I love, or tough it out. Clay, one of the hosts, was admit about my staying, so I decided to humor him until it was unbearable. So many couples...no other single people. It stayed like that the entire night. I was armed with a bottle of wine and a fire pit, I was set. And somehow, I lasted until 2am, I was surprised at myself. There was no cute guy, no midnight kiss, nothing that really made it different than any other night for me. Everyone is going to have their big event or crazy story to share to share from a night of getting to drunk or having an awesome adventure.
There are a lot of different ways to look at this but as I'm writing it, and as cheesy it may be - The New Year began and I started it with friends who wanted to be around me. I guess there are times like that, when you're single, when you can't or don't always need to ask for much more. So here we begin. 2017.

Welcome! Hi, Hello

Hello all, Happy New Year!
Welcome to my first day 2017, on which I have decided to start blogging my life on a regular basis, maybe a daily or weekly basis ...to be determined.
There are some things that as 20-somethings we go through, particularly when we live in a big city, particularly when you're single. And they're much more common than it feels when it's actually happening to us. I'm here to write about it to accomplish multiple things: to not feel alone, to share my experiences so you don't feel alone, and to just get it out of my system and move forward. Topics will cover making new friends, dating, working, and more. Life is an adventure and a roller-coaster, so the least I can promise is some sort of story.  If you don't like it, then don't read it easy as that, if you do awesome, let me know. Thanks for stopping by!
Now we begin: Welcome to The True Confessions of Living and Being Single in a Big City!
